Alya Shandra, Chief Editor at @Euromaidan Press, a highly credible source, who decided to stay in Kyiv with her family despite deteriorating conditions under constant Russian shelling, has some important advice to the West: "Russia treats ceasefires as missiles", "500 Million Europeans expect 37 Million Ukrainians to hold up Russia perpetually. That is not sustainable.", "Either the West will help Ukraine defeat Russia or the West will face Russia alone" " maybe even strengthend by Ukraine" (i.e.: strenghthened by stolen Ukrainian resources and/or conscripted Ukrainians from occupied territories). "Russia installs self-defeating decisions in their adversaries' minds", such as "Acting now is more risky than sitting it out, which is a myth." "Putin still thinks he can win this war. Why? Because of Western hesitation". youtube.com/watch?v=qjF9jQSO-4…

"Russia installs self-defeating decisions in their adversaries' minds", such as "Acting now is more risky than sitting it out, which is a myth."

It is positively frightening how deeply rooted that idea has become... So much going on worldwide right now relies *heavily* on the way everyone is just waiting and watching rather than acting...

@Nazo Yes. It is basically because just like Putin, our politicians also cling to power, which means for many of them eyeing what the electorate wants more than what would be reasonable. And the average elector cares for daily bread and cheap gas and more than for geopolitical problems. The message that we need to face Russia by spending lots of money and maybe even send soldiers is a deeply unpopular one with most simple electors. so it is being deferred until inevitability, where the cost will be much higher.
